Believes CAASPP prep should build genuine skills, not just test tricks

Hi, I'm Chris — and I made this for you.

I'm a California 3rd grade teacher who found myself spending more Sunday afternoons than I'd like to admit hunting for resources that were truly standards-aligned, honestly differentiated, and actually formatted like the CAASPP test my students would face in the spring.

What I kept finding was resources that were cute but not aligned, or aligned but not differentiated, or differentiated but so dense they took an hour to prep. I wanted something better — so I started making it myself.

"If I'm going to spend time making this for my classroom, I might as well make it well enough to share with every teacher who has the same problem I did."

Lake Mary Learning was named after one of my favorite spots in California — Lake Mary, tucked up in Mammoth Lakes in the Sierra Nevada. There's something about that place that feels like clarity. Clear water, clean air, wide-open sky. That's the energy I try to bring to every resource I design: calm, clean, and purposeful.

Every single product I sell, I've used in my own classroom first. If my students struggled with the directions, I rewrote them. If the differentiation wasn't working, I went back and fixed it. The answer key is detailed because I use it too.

I build these on my own time, for teachers like you — and I price them fairly because I know what teacher salaries look like in California. I hope these resources give you back a few of those Sunday afternoons.

My Teaching Philosophy

"Every student can grow as a reader and writer — and every teacher deserves resources that make it easier to help them do exactly that. Standards shouldn't be intimidating. CAASPP prep shouldn't mean sacrificing real learning. And differentiation shouldn't mean doubling your prep time."

What I Believe About Resources

📋

Standards First, Always

Every activity earns its place by serving a specific California standard. I cite the standard on every page so you and your students always know the purpose of the work.

🎯

Test Prep Should Build Skills

CAASPP practice that looks like the test is valuable — but only when it's also teaching genuine comprehension strategies, not just test tricks.

✏️

Differentiation is Non-Negotiable

Every learner deserves access to grade-level content. Scaffolding shouldn't be an afterthought — it should be built into the design from the start.

Respect for Teacher Time

If a resource takes you more than 5 minutes to prep, it's not working hard enough. Everything I build is designed to be print-and-go on a Monday morning.

💚

Fair Pricing, Always

I know what California teachers earn. I price my resources so that building a full year's library doesn't break the bank — because that's what I'd want as a buyer.

🏔

Rooted in California

These resources are built for California teachers, with California standards, California testing, and the California version of Wonders in mind — not adapted from another state.
